Decarbonization

The work of recent leaders embracing the need for Climate mitigation strategy has centered on the concept of “decarbonization.” This is a twofold approach: first to remove the amount of carbon pollution currently in the atmosphere and second to reduce new carbon pollution entering the atmosphere. All and more can be under the general heading of decarbonization but they fall into one or the other approaches. Decarbonization of the atmosphere is on the leading edge of technology and has some innovative approaches but it is a huge mountain to climb. Atmospheric carbon pollution can naturally dissipate but manmade pollution usually is more complex and harder for nature to break down.

Reducing the amount of carbon emissions exhausted into the atmosphere has the benefit of reducing new harder to break down pollution and can be reduced in many different ways through technology and governmental policy. This technological approach is the one NCSD has embraced as most realistic and manageable and the quickest to be affected by new carbon reduction methods and technology.
