Internship Program
Overview
An informed and dynamic workforce is at the heart of each sustainable support system essential to advancing global sustainability. Effective corporations need to have a pool of professionals who are trained and familiar with sustainable systems and processes. Generating sustainable outcomes is derived from understanding how stakeholders interact within the international sustainability communities.
NCSD is a leader in advocating on sustainability issues and is committed to building a diverse pool of future global leaders. NCSD’s Internship Program offers a wide range of opportunities for college students to gain insight in the technical and administrative programs of NCSD while enriching their knowledge and experience in their respect fields of interest contributing to the general advancement of issues of sustainable development.
What are the objectives?
Provide a framework for assigning students from diverse academic backgrounds to enhance their educational experience through practical assignments and hands on demonstrations related to NCSD objectives.
Educate students to create their own innovations through the work of NCSD.
Provide NCSD programs or projects with input from students specializing in various fields. Most students are placed in the current programs such as energy, environment, healthcare, biotech and policy, although other disciplines can be considered as appropriate such as communications, external relations or bilingual communications.
The duration of our internships is 12 months with flexible schedule depending on the needs of the NCSD and the intern’s availability.
Who we are looking for?
You are at least twenty years of age on the date of application.
You are enrolled in a course of study at a US university or equivalent institution (applicants who have already graduated may also qualify for consideration provided that they apply to the internship within six months after completion of their formal qualification).
You have completed one years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution prior to commencing (bachelor’s level or equivalent) the assignment.
You are not related to a NCSD staff member (e.g., son/daughter, brother/sister, or mother/father).
You are fluent at least in one of the working languages of the office of assignment.
You have not previously participated in NCSD’s Internship Program.

Candidates from across the world are invited to express interest in specific areas of work and organizational locations (regional offices, country offices or headquarters).
All applications should be made through an application letter submitted to the NCSD headquarters in Washington, DC.
