The Production of A Documentary on Global Climate Change

In 2011, as part of the its on-going capacity building efforts with the China Clean Development Mechanism Fund ("China CDM Fund") under the China-US Low Carbon Development Cooperation Program (the "Program") for high-level bi-lateral cooperation between China and the U.S. on sustainable low carbon development, the NCSD is honored to be the key international partner along with the National Development and Reform Commission ("NDRC"), the State Council Information Office of the PRC, the China Meteorological Administration and the China CDM Fund, as well as a co-producer of the documentary along with CCTV, Beijing Huafeng Group of Meteorological Audio & Video Information, for the production of a 12-episode TV series documentary "Warm and Cold, We Share Together... A Civilization Journey of Climate" that examines the history of the relationship between humankind and nature...global climate change and its evolving impact on the earth's environment and global populations is an integral part of this history, and also the essential reason for the birth of this documentary.

Since the atmosphere is a shared legacy of all people of the earth, it is important to be able to establish a context for explaining climate change. The documentary is a valuable contribution to the understanding of the past but also of the future. As China's leadership in understanding the need for correcting activities that previously caused stress to the environment has lead to significant policy changes, the efforts at pursuing such goals are needed in all countries. We hope that the CCTV documentary will meet with great success as it addresses the need for ordinary people, throughout the world, to understand the reasons that change is so urgently needed.
