The National Center for Sustainable Development (“NCSD”), a national 501(C)(3) not-for-profit corporation (“NGO”), was granted its nonprofit status by the U.S. Government in 2001 and is headquartered at 1701 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Washington DC 20006. Since its founding, the NCSD has promoted multi-level exchanges between China and the United States in education, energy, environment (“3E”) fields, through example with demonstration projects in the 3E fields that illustrate new approaches to sustainable development.
The NCSD Board of Trustees consists of several former U.S. government officials and key organizations’ principals, that bring special expertise to the design and implementation of the demonstration projects NCSD undertakes. In 2009, China Clean Development Mechanism Fund Management Center (“CDM Fund”) which was established by China’s State Council and supervised by the Chinese Ministry of Finance became the board member of the NCSD.
NCSD has formed strategic partnerships with a number of Chinese government agencies and relevant professional organizations, in addition to the CDM Fund namely: the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, Dongfang International Center for Educational Exchange established by China Scholarship Council that affiliated with the Chinese Ministry of Education, the Chinese Agricultural Water-saving & Rural Drinking Water Supply Technology Association affiliated with the Ministry of Water Resources of China, the Energy Development Research Center of the Investment Association of China an affiliate of the National Development and Reform Commission, China Renewable Energy Society, etc.
